Our work together is based on what you need to help meet your treatment goals, which will be different for every client. Recommendations are based on a thorough assessment of your specific situation, ongoing dialogue, and collaboration between the clinician and client. I work predominantly from a cognitive-behavioural perspective (CBT) to help assist with changes in thinking, doing, and feeling. Practical, thoughtful, and caring.
I take a holistic view by integrating brain-based science, personality factors, family history, and socioenvironmental contexts to understand the individual's psychological processes. Interventions I practice include:
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-i)
- Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT)
- Eye-Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR)
- Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT)
- Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)
- Polyvagal Theory (PVT)
Doctoral PhD training
I completed my PhD in Clinical Psychology at Ryerson University. My research was based on decision making in individuals with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, under the supervision of Dr. Peter Farvolden. My residency was completed at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) in the Work, Stress, and Health clinic and at the University of Toronto's Health and Wellness Centre. During the residency, I gained experience assessing and providing treatments to individuals with work-related mental disorders, such as Posttraumatic Stress Disorder in the WSIB specialty clinic. At the counselling centre at U of T, I provided CBT to undergraduate and graduate students.
I completed supervised practice, which was the final stage of my training at CAMH in the Mood and Anxiety Clinic under the supervision of Dr. Judith Laposa and Dr. Carol Heusser at the Brampton Psychologists clinic.
My clinical training was completed at the Neuropsychological Clinic at St. Joseph's Hospital (Hamilton), the Psychology Research and Treatment Clinic at St. Michael's Hospital (Toronto), the Day Treatment Program at the Brampton Civic Hospital, and the Counselling Centre at the Oshawa Psychology and Counselling Centre. I was involved in research projects in the Neuropsychological Service at Ontario Shores and Health Equity at CAMH.
